  • 3.4xthe genuine website enquiries, from about 15 to 51 a month
  • 293genuine enquiries since March, 126 of them for retrofit

The starting point

Eco Installer installs and services heat pumps, solar and battery, underfloor heating and air conditioning. It’s engineering-led and local, competing with national brands.

  • No marketing strategy. Work came in feast-or-famine cycles from referrals and repeat customers, with no way to turn demand up.
  • Organic traffic had been falling since late 2024, and most visits came from people already searching for the brand.
  • The goal was a steady flow of retrofit heat pump work, the highest-value jobs.
  • The starting point: about 15 genuine website enquiries a month, 4 to 5 of them for retrofit.

What we did

How we did it

  1. Strategy

A digital roadmap built around retrofit, the highest-value work, with grant-led messaging.

  2. A new website and landing pages

A refreshed website, plus conversion-focused pages for retrofit, air source, ground source, air-to-air, solar and underfloor heating, each with its own enquiry form so every enquiry can be traced to its source.

  3. Grant accuracy

Copy kept accurate across the site, print and email as the Boiler Upgrade Scheme changed, including the £9,000 uplift for off-gas homes and the new £2,500 air-to-air grant.

  4. CRM and follow-up

Website forms feed the sales pipeline, with automated replies, sales alerts and follow-up tasks.

  5. Lead capture

The Homeowner’s Guide to Renewable Heating, an ebook offered through a scroll and exit-intent popup.

  6. Honest measurement

Every enquiry classified by what the person actually wants, with spam and duplicates removed, fortnightly reporting, and an alert if a form ever fails, so no enquiry is lost.

The results

What changed

  • Retrofit enquiries up from 4 to 5 a month in March and April to an average of 23 a month from July to September, 68 in the quarter
  • Genuine website enquiries up 3.4 times, from about 15 a month to an average of 51 a month from July to September
  • 293 genuine enquiries since March, 126 of them for retrofit
  • A record August, with 27 retrofit enquiries
  • 32 downloads of the ebook since March
  • £661k of live quoted pipeline from website enquiries in the first ten weeks of tracking

What the enquiries tell us

Real enquiries, kept anonymous, show the strategy working.

  • The grant messaging is landing: oil-heated households are asking for quotes specifically to use the £9,000 grant.
  • Local wins: a homeowner chose Eco Installer over a national energy brand because it’s local.
  • Word of mouth clusters by street, with enquiries mentioning the install next door.
  • Harder jobs: a large oil-heated home that another installer turned away came to Eco Installer.
  • Commercial work through the site, including an air conditioning tender across 16 rooms of a medical centre.
  • Repeat and referral business, from a solar customer of eight years ago coming back for a heat pump to friends of customers.
